Dr. Weisberg was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association at their Annual Meeting in Boston, MA. The Fellowship award signifies that the APA determined that Dr. Weisberg has made professional contributions that have had national impact on the field of professional psychology.

Dr. Weisberg was just invited to join an advisory board as part of a grant sponsored by the University of Minnesota Schools of Dentistry and Medicine. The grant will be used to fund research into the value and efficacy of a multidisciplinary approach to treating the patient with chronic pain.

Dr. Weisberg will be presenting on Integrative Medicine Approaches to Treating Chronic Pain at the Clinical Applications for Age Management Medicine Conference. Dr. Weisberg will be presenting a 2-day training to the Minnesota Academy for Comprehensive Dentistry (MACD) Annual Meeting on pain management, reduction of clenching and dental phobias, and the neurobiology of pain. Dr. Weisberg was recently interviewed by Dr Stephen Panebianco on the impact of psychoneuroimmunology on primary healthcare. This videotaped interview will be utilized as part of the curriculum for the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona School of Medicine. Starting May 2, 2010 Dr. Weisberg will be teaching the 8-week online course entitled The Power of Mind-Body Medicine, sponsored by the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine. This course is designed for all health professionals looking to develop core competencies in integrative medicine. Dr. Weisberg will be teaching workshops on psychoneuroimmunology and pain management at the Regional Workshops of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in San Antonio TX, October 21-24, 2010. He will also be teaching an advanced workshop on integrative medicine (with Dr. Sheryll Daniel) at the Regional Workshops of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in New Orleans, LA, December 9 – 12, 2010.

Dr. Weisberg recently presented a half-day training to staff and leadership at Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. The topic was Integration of Mental Health and Primary Care Medicine: A Mind-Body Orientation.

Dr. Weisberg recently gave one of two keynote addresses at the conference entitled Integrative Mental Health: Caring For the Whole Person in Minneapolis MN. His keynote address was entitled: The Cutting Edge of Mind – Body Medicine in 2009: Where We Are, Where We’re Heading. This conference, presented by Allina Health System of Minnesota in partnership with the Ted and Roberta Mann Foundation, was given in conjunction with the North American Conference on Research in Integrative Medicine, concurrently in Minneapolis MN. The other keynote address was given by Dr James Gordon from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. The conference aimed to define Best Practices in integrative health care in mental health.

Dr. Weisberg recently presented an invited address to researchers, neuroscientists and clinicians at Medtronic Corporation at their new campus in Moundsview MN. The title of his presentation is The Cutting Edge of Mind – Body Medicine in 2009: Where We Are, Where We’re Heading. His presentation was part of a new initiative by Medtronic Corporation to implement integrative medicine practices within a high-tech medical device enterprise.

Dr. Weisberg (along with his colleague Dr. Greg Plotnikoff) recently published a commentary regarding integrative treatment of irritable bowel syndrome in the British Medical Journal Click here for more details.

Dr. Weisberg became the first recipient of the William S. Kroger Award for the Best Paper on Hypnosis, Health, and Behavioral Medicine, for his paper entitled 50 Years of Hypnosis in Medicine and Clinical Health Psychology: A Synthesis of Cultural Cross-Currents. The paper was published in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, Vol 51, No 1, July 2008.
