Dr. Weisberg will be giving a keynote address at the Integrative Mental Health Initiative Conference in conjunction with the North American Conference on Research in Integrative Medicine, May 11, 2009 in Minneapolis MN. This conference is being held in partnership with the Ted and Roberta Mann Foundation. The conference is being presented by the Allina Health System of Minnesota, and aims to define Best Practices in integrative health care in mental health.
Dr. Weisberg will be presenting a day-long workshop to the entire inpatient and outpatient staff of the Institute for Health and Healing, the integrative medicine program at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. The theme for the workshop is Evolving from Phase I to Phase II: Bringing Integrative Medicine to the Next Level. It will be held at the Oak Ridge Conference Center in Chaska MN on November 14, 2008.
Dr. Weisberg has been elected Vice President of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He will serve a one-year term on their executive board starting in March of 2009.
Dr. Weisberg will be presenting two advanced workshops at the upcoming Annual Scientific Meeting and Workshops of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, March 6 – 10, 2009 in Boston MA. He will be presenting Talk to the Brain: Utilizing Emerging Research to Develop Mind-Body Interventions (with Dr. Sheryll Daniel) and Integrating Hypnosis into the Treatment of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Daily Headache (with Dr. Alfred Clavel). Additionally, he will be presenting his recently published paper entitled 50 Years of Hypnosis in Medicine and Clinical Health Psychology at a scientific symposium.
In August 2008, Dr Weisberg was elected as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association at their Annual Meeting in Boston, MA. The Fellowship award signifies that the APA determined that Dr. Weisberg has made professional contributions that have had national impact on the field of professional psychology.
Dr. Weisberg just published the lead article in the 50th Anniversary issue of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. The article is entitled 50 Years of Hypnosis in Medicine and Clinical Health Psychology: A Synthesis of Cultural Crosscurrents (51:1, July 2008, pp. 13 - 27).
On Monday, September 15, 2008, Dr. Weisberg will be featured on a national teleconference highlighting his accomplishments in mind-body medicine. Dr Weisberg will be teaching an 8-week distance-learning course entitled The Power of Mind-Body Medicine, sponsored by the National Institute for the Clinical Application for Behavioral Medicine. Starting October 16, 2008, Dr. Weisberg will be teaching at a regional clinical hypnosis workshop in Atlanta GA, sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Contact www.asch.net for details.
Dr. Weisberg was just invited to join an advisory board as part of a grant sponsored by the University of Minnesota Schools of Dentistry and Medicine. The grant will be used to fund research into the value and efficacy of a multidisciplinary approach to treating the patient with chronic pain.
Dr. Weisberg taught a workshop entitled Hypnosis in Clinical Health Psychology and Medicine (along with Dr David Patterson from the University of Washington School of Medicine) at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Chicago IL, May 3, 2008.
Dr. Weisberg was interviewed by Davina Bristow from the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) Science department regarding the use of hypnosis in medical and surgical settings. This information was used to help put together an hour-long documentary on Integrative Medicine airing on the BBC in early 2008.
Dr. Weisberg will be on the faculty for the Annual Workshops in Clinical Hypnosis sponsored by the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis. St Paul Minnesota, early June of 2008.
Dr. Weisberg taught a 3-day workshop entitled Powerful Healing - Bringing Your Mind-Body Skills to the Next Level
April 10 – 13, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Seattle in Seattle WA (co-taught with Dr. Sheryll Daniel).
Dr. Weisberg will be teaching an online course entitled The Power of Mind/Body Medicine offered during
two different 8-week periods: May 4 – June 28 2008 and September 28 – November 22, 2008. The course is sponsored by the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine (NICABM).
